One lucky day!

He is here! I am proud to announce the highly anticipated arrival of Quin Donaldson Doty. On Thursday, August 7 I checked into the hospital to prepare to be induced. I was given a Miso pill to get my cervix ready to be induced the next day at 5:30 in the morning. Little did I know that the little pill would kick me into labor and I would instead be delivering my baby at that time! All I can say about labor is it is tough and I'm glad I was only in active labor for 7 hours. If I would give anyone advise I would say:

1.Go to a hospital with a jacuzzi tub...they are awesome when you are in pain

2. Tell your husband about all those little things he does that drive you crazy before you go into labor so he knows what not to do when you are in the most extreme pain of your life (like ask dumb questions about apples)

3. Get the epidural. I can say I enjoyed the whole pushing experience because of that lovely drug.

Now that I have gotten my pregnancy advise out of the way I have got to say that no matter how hard those painful moments are it is all worth it! It is an amazing experience to hold your baby for the first time. When the nurse put him in my arms for the first time, I started talking to him and he opened his eyes and just stared at me. He recognized his mommy.

August 8, 2008 is now the day that I like to say my lucky charm was born!
Thank goodness for Grandma Donaldson who came to stay with us. She took the 10:00pm-2:00am shift with Quin for the first week. Boy am I missing her help now!

Aunt Haylee had help Grandma Donaldson redecorate the porch while we were at the hospital...it was a lovely homecomeing surprise!

Tick....Tock....Tick....Tock...

I am officially a ticking time-bomb. The Donaldsons and Dotys are on edge waiting for me to announce...."This is it...take me to the hospital." Unfortunately little baby Doty seems to be quite comfortable in my tummy which seems to be growing exponentially with each passing moment. However I must admit that I have had some great company to help me pass the time away. The Donaldsons and Doty girls (plus Bryce) made a trip downtown to the infamous "Voodoo Donuts" where we sampled some pretty creepy snacks...check out Bryce's- it bled when you bit it! In fact it seems like the majority of our waiting time has been spent eating whatever I seem to be craving at that moment. Last week we went to our favorite little Chinese place "The Essence of China" where I recieved the biggest bowl of egg flower soup I had ever seen. It was heavenly. And of course Haylee on August 1st Haylee and I went to Borders for the midnight release of Stephanie Meyer's Breaking Dawn. While there Haylee won a T-Shirt contest, but I won the reading racing and finished the book on my due date August 3rd. If anyone out there has finished the book...let me know! I am dying to chat about it with somebody! Until then I will just have to keep waiting...tick...tock..tick...tock.
